Piano moving in The Hague
A piano is not a piece of furniture. It is an instrument of several hundred kilos with a cast iron frame, a tuned soundboard and a case that does not forgive a knock. We have been moving them in The Hague and the surrounding area since 1918, when founder G. Harteveld started at the piano firm Mossel en Versteege on the Zoutmanstraat.
What we move
Upright pianos, harpsichords, digital grands and concert grands. Within the same house to another room, one floor up or down, or to a completely new address. A single move without a full house move is perfectly normal for us: many customers call us for the piano alone.
How we go about it
We come with enough people. You do not carry a piano up the stairs with two men because it just about works; you do it with four because that is safe. The instrument goes into blankets and onto the right bearing points, the legs and music desk come off where needed, and we protect stairwells and door frames before anything moves. If it will not pass through the staircase, the piano leaves through the window on our moving lift.
What we need to know beforehand
Tell us the make and model, which floor the instrument is on and where it needs to go. A photo of the stairs or the balcony helps enormously. On that basis we give you a price in advance, not an hourly rate. After the move, let the instrument acclimatise for a few days before you have it tuned; we will tell you what to look out for.
